The method for closing the roof of a convertible which is stored in a housing (5) when open comprises opening the housing and removing the roof (6) completely from it. It is then held in an intermediate position while its rear section (8) is fixed by a snap-fitting (9) to the casing. The front section (7) of the roof is then fixed to the A-pillars.
