The rubber mounting comprises an inner (3) and an outer (1) tube, between which a flexible rubber ring (2) is mounted. This has an axial length, after vulcanization but before assembly, which is not more than one half that of the outer tube. After widening the inner tube or reducing the width of the outer tube the ring extends across the whole length of the outer tube.
