The deep hyperthermy applicator has a hollow volume metal resonator in which a patient is partly subjected to an electromagnetic field. A cylindrical hollow volume with a cross-section that is relatively large compared to the patient treatment cross-section is selected and a resonant frequency is stimulated in the selected cylindrical hollow volume. Body parts that are not heated are shielded with metal screens.
