The floating, self-powered device for the transporting and transferring of containers (1) is constructed as a pontoon (2), with a vertical element (14) rigidly connected to a structure of the pontoon. A live ring (16) for the slew-mounting of a crane head (17) supporting a boom (18) is installed in the region of an extension of the vertical element facing away from the pontoon structure and at a distance from the deck of the pontoon. The crane is offset to the side in relation to the longitudinal axis (25) of the pontoon and installed in the center of a working area, and the deck of the pontoon has container parking surfaces.
