A variable giant magnetic resistor (GMR) (R10) has a GMR cell (10'), towards which a magnetic element (5) moves with a clearance gap (6). The GMR fits in a resistance network (RN) and has an evaluating device. The RN links with the GMR to a linkage device as an evaluating device for providing values with an output voltage generated by the GMR as a linearized first output voltage.
