A door name plate displays names, e.g. on patients' rooms in hospitals and has one or more LCD displays as well as appropriate electronic components and an infrared or radio receiver part. Power is supplied by one or more batteries or accumulators. The door name plate can be programmed by a unit. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) A programming unit for programming data into a door plate, e.g. name, bed number, room number, etc.; (2) and for market opportunities for producing electronics in a door name plate unit.
