A sheet grip system the for reversing roller for a duplex printing process replaces the conventional coaxial tube mounting for the movable grips with a control bar parallel to the grip axis. The fixed halves of the grips are mounted on a shaft (11) parallel to the roller axis and supported by fixed bearings (13) mounted on the roller. The shaft is attached to a drive gear (12) at one end of the mounting. The other end of the mounting has a second drive gear (17) attached to a short shaft supported by two closely spaced bearings (19) also mounted on the roller. A radial arm (20) is clamped to the short shaft and carries a control arm (15) parallel to the grip shaft, with its end supported on bearings on the outer end of the grip shaft. The movable grips are mounted on the parallel shaft which provides a stronger support than a conventional tube mounting.
