Process for preparation of a polyurethane composition comprises a first step (a) in which an isocyanate reactive polymer is reacted with a diisocyanate monomer, and isocyanate terminated prepolymer which is essentially devoid of diisocyanate monomers in such a way that the resultant total composition contains less than 0.1 wt. diisocyanate monomers. A process for preparation of polyurethane composition with a small proportion of diisocyanate monomer(s) in which in a first step (a) at least one isocyanate reactive polymer is reacted with at least one diisocyanate monomer, and in a second step (b) the reaction product from (a) is mixed with at least one isocyanate terminated prepolymer which is essentially devoid of diisocyanate monomers in such a way that the resultant total composition contains less than 0.1 wt. diisocyanate monomers. Independent claims are included for: (1) a polyurethane composition obtained as above; (2) an adhesive or coating composition containing the polyurethane composition described above (claimed).
