The procedure for the building of a supporting wall involves the use of bearing construction elements with at least on vertically continuous cavity and which are orientated so that a cavity of one construction element aligns with the cavity of at least one construction element lying above it in overlap, and the overlying cavities are filled with an insulating and moisture regulating material (2,2'). The material can be produced from locally available materials from the building site itself and may be clay from the soil excavation and wood chips from the clearing work. An Independent claim is included for a construction element in which the component parts of the filling material are mixed with one or more solvents and the filling material is hardened by the release of the solvent.
