Recovery system for fixing a carbine to a paddle and for connecting two paddles comprises a carbine holder for a carbine on which a rescue cable is hung and fixed to a paddle. The cable can be applied several meters away from e.g. a kayak in the current of a river. After connecting the carbine, the carbine holder can be detached from the paddle blade by pulling on the paddle so that the paddle is no longer in the way during further recovery. A paddle connection enables two paddles to be quickly and easily bound together. The paddle connection is a solid connection which can not be detached.
