Stable, non-sticky cosmetic and/or dermatological silicon-in-water emulsions, especially useful as sunscreens, contain silicone oils and polyether-modified polysiloxanes

Cosmetic and/or dermatological silicon-in-water emulsions are such that (a) the proportion of the silicone oil in the fatty phase is at least 50 wt.%; and (b) polyether-modified polysiloxanes are present. Independent claims are also included for such a silicon-in-water emulsion produced by high pressure homogenization at 30-1500 (especially 750) bar or by a phase-inversion method involving (i) production of a surfactant-free water-in-silicon emulsion containing (a), (b) and a nonionic emulsifier at above 60 degrees C; (ii) tempering at below 60 (especially below 50) degrees C; and (iii) adding below 5 (especially below 2) wt.% of a betaine, alkylpolyglycoside, amino acid derivative or quat. ammonium compound surfactant to cause phase inversion.
