Hand unit for finding an object, especially a parked motor vehicle, has a storage unit (3) and an output arrangement (13). The storage unit stores direction and distance data with relative to the object as the hand unit moves away from it and the output arrangement outputs the stored data when required to enable the object to be found. The inventive unit can be integrated in a vehicle key (2), a wristwatch, a mobile phone or a PDA.
