The apparatus includes a data processor for processing and storing measured data sets from a detector which is associated with an x-ray source. An acquisition device detects the periodic motion of the object under examination and derives a synchronization signal which is fed to a controller which controls the rotation of a carrier. The detector is a two-dimensional radiation receiver. An Independent claim is included for a method of recording three-dimensional data for a periodically moving object.
