Method for fixing a sink (100) which has a peripheral clip (134) in an aperture in a work surface (148) comprises applying a bead (154) of material which can alter its volume, e.g. a foamable composition, inside the clip. The sink is then fitted and adjusted, after which the material is foamed to hold it in place. Independent claims are included for: (a) use of a material which can alter its volume to hold a sink in place in a work surface; (b) a sink as described above; and (c) the combination of sink, work surface and material which can alter its volume.
