The thermal disproportionation apparatus operates by lowering the pressure of a gas stream. It comprises a vortex tube (2) mounted in an outer tube (1), forming a channel (13) for hot gas which forms a mantel around the cold gas inlet (4), as in DE10151321. The outer tube is T-shaped, so that it encloses a throttle valve (3) and the cold gas inlet.
