The workpiece (50) flange (51) is held by wedges (14,15) and clamped by a clamp ring (21) which is supported by hydraulically powered wedges (22). The chuck (2) slides axially in a body (4) rotated by the machine and has an extension (5) in which a shaft (12) slides to engage a cone (11) in a centre bore of the workpiece.
