Method of measuring precrash distance for vehicles uses emitted wave pulses with reflected pulses combined with time delay signal pulses

The method of measuring the distance of a target vehicle in precrash measurement has wave pulses (1) emitted within predetermined time intervals and received as reflected wave pulses from the target. The received wave pulses are combined with time delay pulses (3) so that the time delay matches the time period for the secondary target distance (4) which is then determined from the delayed signals. An Independent claim is included for a device for measuring target distance using the above method.
