The impact protection device (1) for a motor vehicle is connected to the vehicle's structure and has means for impact-type force applications and a bellows (16) installed between the force application means and structure of the vehicle. The force application means and the bellows interact so that a force application takes place through the bellows into the body of the vehicle. The impact protection device may be installed between the bumper (3) and longitudinal support of the body. The means for impact-type force applications comprises a chamber (15), the volume of which is enlarged for force application.
