Time synchronization method for synchronizing coded video stream with additional information e.g. for television broadcast or on-demand video stream

The method has the time code and the presentation time stamp contained within a MPEG-1/-2 coded video stream and time values obtained from both the time code and the presentation time stamp used as synchronization anchors, for allowing frames or objects contained within frames of the coded video stream to be synchronized with additional information. The time code value and/or the presentation time stamp value and the derived time values are selected as synnchronization anchors dependent on the functionality of the MPEG-1/-2 decoder or the end device, e.g. a set-top box or personal computer.
