A method for constructing an earth retaining wall for embankments, sound proofing embankments etc, has a hollow concrete elements stacked into a retaining wall (TK1) and with a free flow back fill to form the embankment or earth wall. The retaining wall is braced by a pattern of ties (ZE) attached to anchorage elements forming an anchorage system (AV1) which braces the wall. The anchorage ties prevent the wall elements being forced out of position by the thrust moments imparted by the pressure of the backfill.
