Method for controlling traffic lights at a traffic network intersection in which detectors (3) are used to detect traffic flows at the lights. The loading grade of individual lights is determined based on an existing switching plan and the measured traffic flows. Lastly the switching plan is adjusted to better use the available traffic capacity by adjusting reserve time settings.
