A paper (12) making machine (10) simultaneously modifies both the transverse moisture cross-sectional profile and curl. The machine (10) especially. incorporates a moisture regulator (22). The transverse moisture cross-sectional profile and curl are especially individually and separately regulated. The moisture regulator (22) is a pneumatically-driven array of atomizing water jets (26) emitting two components at a rate of approx. 15-20 liters/hr. Each water jet spray passes via a droplet measuring Sauter sensor set for (100 m and maintained at a constant average during operation. One first jet component determines the moisture, while the second jet component determines the curl. Also claimed is a commensurate process for the correction of transverse moisture cross-sectional profile and curl.
