A floor drain for a wet cell in a ship, e.g. a toilet and shower compartment, has a cylindrical housing (18) set vertically into the floor of the cabin and covered by a grille (16). The housing has an inner bulkhead (22) into which is fitted a vertical drain section (26) and an outlet drain (46) in the bottom. The top drain is fitted with a half spherical cover (34) attached to the underside of the grill, and with the bottom lip (32) of the cover set below the top edge (40) of the drain. This creates a trapped water seal and siphon, to prevent back flow of smells. The underside of the inner drain is fitted with a caged float (50) which seals the drain under back flow, e.g. when the ship rolls.
