The motor vehicle seat has a seat backrest (14) and a seat cushion (1) with lower springing (2) with a number of mechanical springs, whereby the springs are arranged essentially in a horizontal plane in or under the seat cushion and are mounted at their ends on a holding part (4,5). An arrangement is provided for adjusting the hardness of the springs. Each spring has a separate device for adjusting its spring hardness.
