The device has a mains rectifier (AC/DC), an inverter, a series resonance circuit consisting of the series circuit of a resonance capacitor (SRK) and a resonance inductor (L) and a harmonic filter (OWF) with a series circuit of two rectifier diodes (D1,D2) connected to the rectifier in the forward conducting direction and a pump capacitor (C2) connected to the center tapping of the two rectifier diodes. There is an element (Tr2) for electrically isolated coupling out of the lamp current to supply energy to the pump capacitor.
