A method for modification of a footprint (200) independently of an established number (P) of textured elements touched/bordered by the footprint, involves initially determining the size or shape of the footprint, establishing the resolution (m req) of the textured elements associated with the footprint, determining whether the graphics system provides textured elements with the given resolution, and if the graphics system gives textured elements with the stated resolution, retain the footprint (200), but if no textured elements are prepared with the stated resolution, select textured elements prepared by the graphics system with corresponding resolution and reduce the size of the footprint (200) so that the number of textured elements touched/bordered by the reduced-size footprint in largely equal to, or less than, the established number (P).
