A process for separation of alpha, beta-unsaturated carboxylic acids from a reaction mixture by reaction of the alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acids with at least one 2-oxazoline , where the content of alpha, beta-unsaturated carboxylic acids in the reaction mixture prior to reaction with the 2-oxazoline does not exceed 20 wt.% is new. Independent claims are included for: (1) a radiation curable composition containing the reaction mixture in which the alpha, beta-unsaturated carboxylic acids are reacted with the 2-oxazoline; (2) a polymer obtainable by reaction of at least one alpha, beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid with at least one 2-oxazoline and at least one epoxy compound; a radiation curable composition containing polymer; (3) a process for coating of substrates using the radiation cured composition.
