In fuel cell (1) with a proton-conducting membrane (2) as electrolyte, covered on both sides by catalyst layers (3) with a gas-permeable anode (4) or cathode (5) on the outside, adjacent electroconductive plates (6), forming the boundaries of gas ducts with the electrodes, and hydrogen and oxygen gas supply connections, the membrane is a hybrid membrane comprising a matrix mixed with a duct-forming protein based on extremophilic microorganisms.
