At an air jet loom, with a multi-colored weft insertion system, the main injection jet has a flexible weft mixing tube. An external pressure is applied to the flexible tube section (6), between tube sections (4,5), to clamp and hold the weft yarn (9) before ejection to be propelled across the shed and through the warps. The weft clamping zone is at the leading end of the weft mixing tube, and the clamping/release actions are controlled externally by an overpressure (P) of at most2.0 bar for clamping and an underpressure of at most-50.0 mbar for release, in a chamber (12) surrounding the flexible section.
