Global-adaptive correction of injection quantities/air mass measurement errors in combustion engine involves polynomial-based recursive learning technique with current engine operating information
The method involves determining correction values for a characteristic field at at least three operating points and defining a correction plane from operating points and correction values. At least one control signal correction value is derived from operating parameter input values during engine operation and is learned using a polynomial-based recursive learning technique using current engine operating point information. The method involves placing values for at least one control signal for the internal combustion engine in a characteristic field depending on at least two operating parameters, whereby correction values for the characteristic field are determined at at least three operating points and a correction plane is defined from operating points and correction values. Each point of the correction plane is a possible correction value. At least one control signal correction value is derived from operating parameter input values during engine operation and is learned using a polynomial-based recursive learning technique using current engine operating point information. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a control unit for controlling an internal combustion engine.
