Method for operating a motor vehicle (01) imaging system in which at least one camera is used to generate images of an observation area (02). According to the method an initial position of the vehicle at a given initial time is defined as a start point. The images of the observation area are then automatically compensated for the turning of the motor vehicle so that they appear as they would have appeared from the motor vehicle start point.
