The medical image information system has a data processing device connected to an information transmission network and in which states of system components are formed and partial parameterization and/or configurations of individual system components for different component states are stored. The components are parameterized and/or configured based on the state of the system components. The medical image information system has several components for connection to an information transmission network including at least one image-generating modality (21,22) and several image processing devices (23-25,32) for processing images acquired using the image-generating modality. It has a data processing device (30) connected to the information transmission network (29) and in which states of system components are formed and partial parameterization and/or configurations of individual system components for different component states are stored. The components are parameterized and/or configured based on the state of the system components. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a data processing device (b) a method of parameterizing or configuring components of an inventive medical image information system.
