Emulsifier-free, acrylate modified microgel dispersion obtainable by emulsion polymerization of a monomer (A) containing a radically polymerisable double bond, in the presence of an aqueous dispersion of a polymer (B) containing capped NCO groups and an anion forming group, where during emulsion polymerization the OH groups of monomer A react with the capped NCO groups of polymer B with formation of urethane compounds and release of the blocking agent is new. An emulsifier-free, acarylate modified microgel dispersion obtainable by emulsion polymerization of at least one OH group containing monomer (A) which contains at least one radically polymerisable double bond, in the presence of an aqueous dispersion of a polymer (B) containing at least two capped NCO groups, in the prepolymer backbone at least one segment derived from a diol, polyol, polyether, and/or polyesterpolyol, and at least one forming group, where during emulsion polymerization the OH groups of monomer A react with the capped NCO groups of polymer B with formation of urethane compounds and release of the blocking agent.
