The device has a modulated reference light source (4) and two spatially separate sensor chambers, each with a two-part sensor as a sensor pair, in a single housing. Each sensor chamber receives two light quantities from the reference light source shaped by an aperture for detecting the inclination of X and Y axes by computing the differences of the two light quantities received by a two-part sensor of a sensor chamber.
