The method involves producing magnetic resonance images, each with an excitation angle and an echo time A noise part is calculated for each pixel, and is resolved in to components independent and dependent on the angle, respectively. The latter component is resolved in to third and fourth components independent and dependent of the time, respectively, where the fourth component is employed to detect neural activity changes. An independent claim is also included for a magnetic resonance tomography apparatus.
