Data transfer method using a predetermined signature imaging method, whereby the data (D) to be transmitted is first inverted (Di) and then the first signature (S) formed with the uninverted data and signature then transmitted. The transmitted data are then inverted and a second signature (S') formed. The two signatures are compared to determine if there has been a data transfer error. The invention also relates to use of the inventive method for checking the content of a ROM, flash or read-write memory and a computer program and control unit for implementing the inventive method.
