Waste water treatment process disinfects and/or reduces bacterial growth in fluid using ultrasound, and by membrane filtration (34). The process comprises: (a) measuring initial pH and density; (b) buffering (20) the fluid; (c) disinfection or reduction of bacterial growth; (d) carrying out a density and/or measurement; (e) concentrating (30) the fluid in a circuit and sending to the membrane filter which separates out valuable material supplied for production; and (f) partly extracting fluid from the process, and optionally, supplying some to a production line. An Independent claim is also included for the treatment plant.
