The dust extraction system (5) at a rotary printing press, to remove dust and other particles (7) from the paper (8) before printing, extends over the width of the press cylinder (1). It is connected to a suction channel (11) and, in the direction (6) of paper movement, it has a trailing shroud (13) in front of the gap (4) between the press cylinder and a blanket or plate cylinder (3). A bypass opening (18), at an air feed channel (19), is next to the suction channel across the cylinder width, with a leading shroud (17) in the direction of travel, to detach the particles for removal by suction extraction.
