To reduce wear on machine surfaces, and especially concrete mixers, wear protection cassettes (9) are fitted in place at the surfaces subject to wear e.g. at a screw mixer (21). They are fitted in place without fasteners, tightly against each other so that they give each other mutual support around the protected surface (8) by the tight fit between them. They are supported at one end by a fixed point (22a) with a release mounting (23) at the other end. The protection cassettes are especially of a ceramic material.
