The cork extractor makes use of inertia to extract a cork from the neck of a bottle. Guidance is given by a wedge shaft, so that the inertia builds up in the correct direction, so that the inertia principle function with low application of force, meeting the condition of the Inertia Principle. The wedge shaft also serves to help screw the corkscrew into the cork.
