A deep mine coal cutting and extraction assembly has an endless drive chain rotating between sprockets. One first sprocket is coupled to a main drive motor and the second sprocket to a secondary drive motor. Each motor works via a gear system. One of the gear systems incorporates a superimposed gear operating as a pre-stage that generates load displacement following a slip in gear ratio.
