N-(2-pyridyl)-1-amino-2-propanol production, preferably as (R)- or (S)-enantiomer for use as pharmaceutical intermediate, from deprotonated 2-amino-pyridine and propylene oxide in presence of cuprous salt
N-(2-pyridyl)-1-amino-2-propanol production, preferably as (R)- or (S)-enantiomer for use as pharmaceutical intermediate, from deprotonated 2-amino-pyridine and propylene oxide in presence of cuprous salt
Production of N-(2-pyridyl)-1-amino-2-propanol (I) involves deprotonating 2-amino-pyridine (II) and reacting with propylene oxide (III) in presence of a copper (I) salt. Production of N-(2-pyridyl)-1-amino-2-propanol (I) involves deprotonating 2-amino-pyridine (II) and reacting with propylene oxide (III) in presence of a copper (I) salt, specifically where enantiomerically enriched (I) is obtained by: (a) using (III) in (R)- or (S)-form; or (b) acylating racemic (I) (obtained from racemic (III)) in presence of a hydrolase, separating the unreacted alcohol from the mixture, optionally saponifying the acylated alcohol and isolating the product.
