The communications system (1) allows a mobile communications terminal (7a) to communicate with mobile radio network receivers (6a,6b,6c) upon transmission of an emergency call, with an emergency call information signal transmitted to one of a number of emergency assistance control points (4a,4b), selected using data identifying the location of the mobile communications terminal transmitting the emergency call within the mobile radio network (B).
