The message transmission path contains a saturatable element, which is driven into saturation by the signal power of the transmission signals. The method involves coupling out the monitor signals from in front of the saturatable element so that the signal power of the transmission signals reduced by the coupling out is greater than the saturation power of the saturatable element. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for coupling out monitor signals from message transmission paths.
