Microcrystalline paraffin, process for the preparation of microcrystalline paraffins and use of the microcrystalline paraffins

A new, fully synthetic, microcrystalline paraffin is described which can be obtained in a simple manner and in high yields by catalytic hydroisomerization of FT paraffins having 20 to 105 carbon atoms. They are pasty to solid at room temperature and have a higher proportion of iso-paraffins than of n-paraffins. They contain no aromatics. Therefore, they are particularly suitable for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications as well as in the food industry.
