Cable extension system for universal serial bus (USB) cabling to terminals uses a laser diode and a photodiode to transfer data and convert it into optical signals and back into electric signals
Data is transferred from a personal computer (PC) via a 4-core universal serial bus (USB) copper cable. Data signals are modulated in a first transformer (1), converted into optical signals via a laser diode (e/o) and transferred to a second transformer (2) via a optical wave-guide route. A photodiode (o/e) converts the optical signals back into electric signals and demodulates them.
