A machine tool has two horizontally sliding work-piece trays resting on guides that move simultaneously in opposite directions under roller bars. The guides and roller bars are anchored within a surrounding frame. Each tray forms part of a roller-bar module with an integral hydrostatic spindle drive or electrical linear motor drive. The module has a fixed, compact guide bench immediately following the rolling zone. The roller bar module is positioned transverse to and is adjustable with respect to the roller-profile drive direction.
