The sealing device for an opening (2) penetrated by a wiper spindle (1) in a water deflector has a sealing ring (5) closing the gap between the spindle and edge (11) of the opening. The sealing ring has a sliding face (8) as a cylindrical surface which lies against the generated surface (9) of the wiper spindle. The outer edge mounting by which the outer edge of the sealing ring is held on the edge of the opening allows with regard to the wiper spindle a radial movement of the sealing ring in relation to the water deflector. An Independent claim is included for a sealing ring, especially for an opening penetrated by a wiper spindle in a water deflector.
