The method is performed in three steps. In a first step a friction increasing powdery substance (30), in particular silicium, carbide, borid, or a mixture of them is applied onto the area of the rope (5) later to be covered by the sleeve (11). Both parts (5, 11) are joined in a second step and pressed together in a third step. The pressure can also be used for causing a deformation of the area in order to result in a more durable connection.
