Method for detecting combustion engine (10) misfires in which unevenness in engine running associated with misfires is detected by monitoring the rotational velocity of the crankshaft and comparing variations with a threshold value. Additionally the temperature (Tvvk, Tivk, Tnvk) and exothermic energy conversion in the pre-catalytic converter are monitored.
